It can be hard to find happiness. While you may feel happy at times, happiness can lead to a more satisfying life and that can seem like a fantasy to achieve.  However believing in the concept of oneness, in which all things are connected and interdependent, is the secret on how to be happier overall.  That’s true regardless of religion. The research, published in the journal Psychology of Religion and Spirituality, was composed of two surveys of nearly 75,000 people that tested people on concepts related to oneness like social connectedness, connectedness to nature and empathy. It found that people who believe that everything in the world is based on a common principle, believe that everything in the world is connected to each other and everything in the world is interdependent and influenced by each other, were generally happier. Oneness did varied by religion, gender and age, with Muslims and Christians having the highest levels of oneness and atheists the lowest, when oneness beliefs were taken into account many of the positive effects of religious affiliation on life satisfaction disappeared. It also found that women were more likely to believe in the concept of oneness, as were older people.
