Marie Kondo Show Creates Popular Spring Dating Trend

April 2, 2019

One of the more popular Netflix shows is "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo," which follows renowned cleaning expert Marie Kondo tries to help folks declutter their homes and their lives. The show has spawned a new dating trend that's been dubbed, 'Kondo-ing', which is when you ditch your partner as soon as they don't spark joy anymore. As with the show, Kondo recommends you throw out things when they no longer "spark joy." According to the dating website, Plenty Of Fish, it is become so popular it is trending on social media. The cleaning-themed dating trends don't stop with Kondo-ing though. Another is 'Hinch-ing', named after popular cleaning guru Mrs Hinch. The trend, inspired by Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchcliffe, involves turning your partner into a cleaning guru. Seasonal dating trends are "Brexit-ing," where you threaten to leave a relationship, then managing to renegotiate the terms and stay together at the last minute. Easter Ex-Hunting, where messaging an old flame to find someone to spend the Easter is obviously big as we approach April 21st.
