OK, Boomer Beer Aimed To Bridge Together The Generations

December 11, 2019

One term that came of age in 2019 is "Ok, Boomer," which is used to dismiss or mock perceived narrow-minded, outdated, negatively-judgmental, or condescending attitudes of older people, particularly baby boomers. However one brewery is looking to capitalize on its social media practice. Dogfish Head Brewery unveiled its latest beer called "OK, Boomer," which is winter lager beer with a spice blend including cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and star anise, with house-toasted walnut flour and kiln coffee malt. The brew is supposed to evoke the spirit of the story of Old Man Winter, with a Gen Z twist on "out with the old, in with the new." Unlike the divisive nature of the meme, the beer is intended to bring people together with their elders, rather than shame an older generation specifically. But just like the Ok, Boomer Memes, this is only available for a limited time.
