Time for an upgrade.  Netflix announced that its new and improved app, which will roll out December 1st, will not be compatible with the 'Classic' Roku media players sold between 2008 and 2011. Although many users may be disappointed by the news, Roku may have been preparing them for this transition back in 2015 when it stopped updating hardware sold before May 2011. The devices confirmed as no longer streaming Netflix in include the first-generation Roku SD, Roku HD, Roku HD-XR, Roku XD, and Roku XDS. If your Netflix app does not support autoplay next, you are using a Roku that will be losing access to Netflix. You should see a popup warning when you launch Netflix on your Roku if it is a model that will not support the Netflix update. However, Roku is offer a customer-exclusive discount to those with dated models, which is 20% off the latest device.
