Make A Healthy Ice Cream From Frozen Bananas

One of the best "cheat" foods has to be ice cream.  Silky, cold and full of flavor, it can cool you own on a hot day and warm you up when you're having a bad day.  However this slice of heaven comes at a cost that is full of calories, sugar and fat.  But there is a way to satisfy your ice cream taste buds that is healthy (and vegan friendly too) with frozen bananas. Bananas have more sugar than water, which means it can create that dense consistency just like dairy-based ice cream, and it takes about five minutes to make via the blender. All you need is three very ripe bananas (preferably with a few brown spots on the peel). Peel the bananas and cut them into one-inch pieces. Put them in an air-tight container, pop them in the freezer and leave them overnight until they are frozen solid. When the banana slices are frozen solid, break the pieces apart with your hands or a spoon and put them in a blender or a food processor. Blend until totally creamy, about two to three minutes. You'll have to stop the blender every so often to push down some pieces and make sure everything is getting blended evenly. Voila! You can add other frozen fruits for flavor, such as frozen strawberries, blueberries or mangoes. This makes about three two-scoop servings. You can enjoy the ice cream right then, or place it in an air-tight container in the freezer to harden up a bit more before scooping into bowls or cones.
