People love their coffee and over the past years most places that serve coffee have upped their game.  However if you think a $6 Starbucks latte seems like a lot of money to pay for a cup of joe, you may want to hold your chin when you learn of Klatch Coffee Roasters, which has shops from Los Angeles to San Francisco, is currently selling a very exclusive brew for $75 cup. While Kopi Luwak coffee is considered the most expensive in the world (and a unique relationship with the coffee bean and the Civet), Geisha is the hardest to obtain. Elita Geisha 803 was made at the Lamastus Family Estates in Boquete, Panama, with only 100lbs produced, it sold for $803 per pound last month at the Best of Panama Green Coffee Auction. Klatch Coffee Roasters bought ten pounds of the exclusive coffee beans and with a price tag over $8,000, it was the only US coffee shop to get any. That also means there are just 80 cups of this coffee available with cup costing $75. The Geisha coffee bean has roots in Ethiopia, evolved in Costa Rica and grown in the high elevations of Panama that is known for floral, tea like and stone fruit flavors with Jasmine, Bergamot, Sugar Cane and Stone Fruit (peach or apricot) being common flavor notes. Those willing to put down $75 said it had a smooth, fruity, silky tea-like as well as a kick. And while the price is certainly sky-high, it’s possible there will soon be an even pricier cup: The next auction takes place from May 22 and May 25 and may turn out an even more expensive Geisha bean!
