When it comes to moving there is one thing you can count on, you have a lot of stuff! In fact, moving companies say it is why people grossly underestimate the number of boxes needed to move. If a move is in your near future, experts say you should plan about 15 boxes per room. Or you can estimate your box count by counting on one box for every shelf or drawer in your house. Remember to include your closets too, which in most cases, will double the number of boxes you need to pack the room. You should assume one china box/dish barrel per shelf for kitchenware and one standard-sized linen box per drawer. Of course all those boxes will add up quickly at checkout. SO look for freebies on Craigslist, where many people list free boxes. Liquor and grocery stores are great places for free boxes too. Probably one place you'd never think about is McDonalds but their fries boxes, which are strong and also excellent for hauling heavy items that require a smaller sized box. Because the original contents of the box are frozen, you won't have to worry about the boxes being smelly or greasy and they’re so popular for moving, there is a Facebook page devoted in matching people up with the boxes.
