The afternoon slump usually hit you like a ton of bricks and you race to the kitchen for some quick energy.  Although you are ultra-organized meal prep routines and snacks are ideal in fighting off the slump but sometime unrealistic. So here are some easily accessible snack that will keep you full without the added calories of a cheap junk food binge. Popcorn is a wholegrain snack food that can help with preventing inflammation and heart disease and many brands contain as many as 10 beneficial vitamins and minerals like Vitamin B1, magnesium, zinc and iron. Just remember to keep the butter away and salt to a minimum. Yogurt is another quick snack that's high in calcium, protein and may have live cultures that aid in digestion. Look for unsweetened varieties, options with a higher protein content and contain live cultures in the ingredient list. The health benefits of fruit are well known and is an ideal option for curbing unexpected hunger throughout the day. Nuts are high in good fats. However stay away from salted varieties and mix up your options with other food to create a more complete snack. Finally, olives offer a good source of healthy fats and antioxidants, high in vitamin E and oleic acid which is linked to decreased inflammation and a lessened risk of heart disease. They are also low-carb and black olives have high iron which is important for helping red blood cells transport oxygen around the body.
