Foods That Act As Laxatives

From time to time sinks, toilets and tubs get clogged up.  The same can be said for you too.  But rather than reaching for a box of laxatives, which are usually filled with chemicals, try these all natural ways to free up the flow. Believe it or not plain old water is one of the best ways to reduce constipation. Most times the lack of water is the key in bowel problems, so aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Speaking of water, coconut water in larger doses, it will have a laxative effect too. Apple cider vinegar can also help move things along. Try adding one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water to reap the benefits, but there's not much scientific research to back that up. Your better bet is to eat a whole apple, which adds constipation-relieving fiber to your diet and will keep your system happy. You know that aloe vera is good for your skin, but did you also know that it contains compounds called anthraquinones that act as a natural laxative? Add a few drops of aloe vera gel to your water or look for aloe vera juice at your local health food store. Not only is baking soda an amazing cleaning agent in the house, it can also help clean you internally. Add a teaspoon to a cup of warm water and drink quickly to get the best results. As you probably guessed the more fiber in your diet, the better chances you'll avoid constipation. So keep you diet full of leafy greens such as kale, collards and spinach as well as chia and flaxseeds.  If your constipation continues, seek out your doctor for advice and treatment.
