Florida Man Steals Painkillers That Turn Out To Be Laxatives

January 30, 2019

There's more than one way to catch a thief and sometimes you have to try unconventional ways to help someone in trouble! At least that how Peter Hans Emery of Pinellas Park was caught stealing prescription medication from his own home.  According to the police report, he was caught on surveillance breaking into a pill "lock box," opening a prescription bottle labeled Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen and taking two of the pills that were not prescribed to him. Emery has a record of stealing pain medications, with two prior theft convictions including a current probation sentence for illegal possession of another pain killer. Perhaps it is why the victim did not have hydrocodone pill sin the marked bottle.  Instead of the painkiller, the bottle was filled with Equate Gentle Laxative pills, which promises “predictable overnight relief” from constipation. When Pinellas Park Police Department officers caught up with Emery Thursday night, he reportedly admitted taking the pills because he thought they were Hydrocodone. “But he threw them away when he learned they were something else,” investigators noted. Emery was booked into the Pinellas County jail on a felony charge of theft.
