Friday evening (5/1/20) the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners passed requirements that people must wear a mask in public while at an essential business. The emergency order (2020-21), effective today (5/4/2020) states, "Persons working in or visiting grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, construction sites, public transit vehicles, vehicles for hire, and locations where social distancing measures are not possible shall wear facial coverings as defined by the CDC." It goes on to state that "a face covering shall not be required for children under two or persons who have trouble breathing due to a chronic pre-existing condition." and "face masks do not have to be worn while eating or drinking."  The order covers all of Alachua County and is in effect until further notice.
