Opinions is split with the announcement that Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame would portray the latest Caped Crusader in the upcoming movie, The Batman, set for movie theatres in June 2021. Nicholas Hoult (Tolkien) was also up for the role as Bruce Wayne but ultimately director Matt Reeves went with Pattinson, who will now be the sixth actor in the modern age to play Batman in a movie. Recently the Hollywood Reporter asked the question of who played Batman the best.  Out of Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Val Kilmer, and Ben Affleck, Christian Bale narrowly wins over Michael Keaton. Bale got 39% of the vote, while Keaton came in at38%. Clooney came in third with 19%, Affleck landed at 18%, and Kilmer came in last at 17%. The poll makes a note that these percentages were calculated based on who rated the actor as “very favorable,” so the total won’t add up to 100%. Bale winning the top bat spot may be bolstered by the fact that Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy includes some of the most beloved (and critically acclaimed) superhero movies of all time. It also doesn’t hurt that he got to act alongside the late Heath Ledger as the Joker. The same poll overwhelming chose Heath Ledger as the best Joker at 60%, followed by Jack Nicholson at 58% and Jared Leto only got 18%. As for Catwoman, and Halle Berry came out on top with a 42% “very favorable” score. Michelle Pfeiffer came second at 41%, and Anne Hathaway brought in only 26%. While older Batman fans are not happy at the reality of Robert Pattinson playing Batman, fans under 30 were in favor of the casting, while older fans preferred Nicholas Hoult.
