600lb Boar Hog Captured by ACSO Reunited With Owners

September 21, 2016

Reunited and it feels so good!  The 600lb boar that was captured by Alachua County Sheriff deputies over the weekend in Newberry has been reunited with its owner.  The hog, known as "Big Guy" was roaming the watermelon pond area of Newberry, getting his fill of grass and low-lying vegetation.  Deputies had little problem containing "big guy" as he is very friendly.  Come to find out, he belongs to the Colandreo family, who says the 3 to 4 year old boar got out of his enclosure and went missing.  After posts on social media, a neighbor alerted the family that "Big Guy" was being detained at the Alachua County Sheriff's Office Livestock Impound.  Typically unclaimed livestock is put up for adoption. But not for "Big Guy" who is back home.
