Taylor Swift Releases Music Video for 'Lover,' Announces Fashion Collab With Stella McCartney

August 22, 2019

While Taylor Swift fans patiently await the drop of her seventh studio album, Swift gave a little something to hold them over with the unveiling of her music video for “Lover.”

The video shows Swift and her partner dancing, hugging, cooking, and hanging out around a bright, colorful house. The love ballad begins with soft instrumentals and Swift flipping between a seat at the drum set and a place on the couch with her guitar.

The end of the video shows Swift plucking away at a violin, and it’s not until the final moments that the romantic video shows that the happy couple has been swirling around in a snow globe.

The video stars Swift’s longtime backup dancer, Christian Owens. The two dance around in a mystical, snowy wonderland.

Just before the video’s release, Swift appeared on a YouTube Live session where she revealed a few insider tidbits about the video. “The leading man in this video is someone I have performed on stage with for years,” she reveals.

She opened up about being inspired by a line from “You Are In Love” off of her album “1989.” The romantic line begins, “And so it goes / You two are dancing in a snow globe ‘round and ‘round.”

The track and video are laced with Christmas and holiday imagery.

The album, “Lover,” to be released on Friday, is also the inspiration for a fashion collaboration with Stella McCartney. The clothing features much of the same pastel colors and whimsical rainbows that surround her upcoming album.

"It’s been SO much fun to work/dream up cute stuff with my friend @stellamccartney to create a line inspired by my new album Lover," the "The Archer" singer writes on Instagram.
